Dr. Jorge Fernandez-Silva takes a highly individualized approach to treating chronic pain in Merritt Island that focuses on pain relief at the source, not masking it with medication.

His modalities can include nerve blocks and injections, spinal cord stimulation and minimally invasive laser-assisted procedures, among others.

Over the years, Dr. Jorge Fernandez-Silva has developed a loyal and growing patient base. Chronic pain sufferers know they can count on him for personalized medicine and a warm manner.

V.S. writes: “I have been seeing Dr. Fernandez for a few months now and he is caring and listens, and I can tell he likes helping his patients.

F.M. writes: “I can’t explain enough how good and caring he is; it’s freaking amazing to have and know and feel that your doctor is there for you, that he loves what he does and by far and most important that he is there for all the right reasons and he truly listens. I wish I had met him years ago so he could have taken care of me from day 1.

M.J. writes: “Dr. Fernandez-Silva has always been very compassionate, patient and an excellent doctor. I’ve been a patient for almost a year and they have helped me more than my previous pain management physician of 11 years was able to! And I’ve been able to decrease my pain medication to over half! If you want to try someone new or get a second opinion, this would be the best place to do that.”

Dr. Fernandez-Silva has been front and center of PPOA’s growth along Florida’s central east coast. He was interviewed by  “Space Coast Daily TV” about Merritt Island’s new state-of-the-art medical pavilion, which houses his clinic, an outpatient surgery center, and plans for more offices under one roof.

Born in Miami, Dr. Jorge Fernandez-Silva earned his undergraduate degree from Florida International University and his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. After an internship in general surgery, he completed training in anesthesia and pain medicine at the State University of New York’s Upstate Department of Anesthesia, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Fernandez-Silva recently welcomed Dr. Anthony Guarino to the fast-growing Merritt Island practice.

Chronic pain patients in Merritt Island can make an appointment with at the new medical pavilion located at 450 E. Merritt Island Causeway, Suite #200. Visit the location website or call (321) 351-3371.

The 9,824-square-foot Merritt Island Outpatient Surgery Center features two operating rooms and one procedure suite. It is open to all area practitioners in addition to PPOA pain and spine specialists.

New Multispecialty Medical Pavilion takes shape

The pavilion property, at 450 E. Merritt Island Causeway, Merritt Island, Fla., 32953, was once home to a Circuit City retail store. It opened its doors on July 30, 2018 with a PPOA pain management clinic that had relocated from nearby Rockledge.

With a capacity of 30,000 square feet, the pavilion will eventually be home to multiple specialty clinics and office space, in addition to a catheterization lab, pharmacy, laboratory, and imaging services.

“Putting multiple specialties and ancillary services under one roof is the wave of the future,’ said PPOA Chief Operating Officer Josh Helms. “We’re excited to see this facility take the next step in the journey.”

The Merritt Island Outpatient Surgery center, which opened March 8, will be the site of minimally invasive laser spine procedures performed by Keith Girton, M.D., a former Laser Spine Institute surgeon. The center is also welcoming partnerships with orthopedics, ophthalmology, spine and other specialties within the Space Coast market. For now, its staff is excited to see the long-awaited outpatient surgery center come to fruition.

“Everyone with PPOA has been so helpful during this journey and we appreciate all the support we have gotten from all those involved,” says Geiger.

Second Medical Pavilion Ready to Open in Orlando
