Tampa (Habana) – Florida Pain Relief Group

PPOA Invasive Spine Group, Tampa (Habana)

We Are Committed to You & Your Health

Tampa, Florida residents who are battling with chronic pain are desperate to find a long-term solution. Many have been given prescription medications from their doctor that either do not work, have terrible secondary side effects, or put them at risk for addiction.

At the Habana Florida Pain Relief Group, we pioneer interventional pain management. In our years of experience, we have seen that there are more options available for dealing with chronic pain than simply giving someone prescription drugs.

Prescription drugs may mask the pain, but they do nothing to address the underlying structural weakness, inflammation, or nerve irritation that is causing the pain. For this reason, when the prescription drugs run out, the pain returns with a vengeance.

We Care About You

At our Tampa, Florida clinic, our goal is not simply to treat pain, but instead we treat the person. We look at you as an individual and try to understand the unique circumstances that have led to your pain, your medical history, and your pain management goals.

Our board-certified physicians have years of experience helping patients realize lasting relief from their pain. Some of the treatments that we use include physical therapy, low impact exercise, massage therapy, acupuncture, and more targeted pain management therapies.

In talking with our Tampa, Florida patients, it is very clear to see how pain not only has a physical effect on their lives, but it also affects them emotionally. When a person is dealing with chronic pain, it easy for them to feel alone and like no one understands what they are going through.

We understand your pain, and we empathize with what you are going through. We invite you to visit us. At our clinic you will find knowledgeable, friendly, approachable, and caring doctors who are eager to help.

Horrible office! The Dr. was good, but if you go to the Habana office be prepared to be waiting 2-4 hours past your appointment time! My first visit, I arrived early to do paperwork, after 2 hours past my actual appointment time I was informed it would be another 2-3 hours to see the doctor or I could re schedule. This was my FIRST appointment ever there, I chose to reschedule, which meant more time out of work. On my next first visit it was still a good hour plus before I saw the Dr. I then had to schedule a visit for a temporary dose change due to an out patient surgery I had coming up. My husband was requested to be at that visit with me so he too had to miss work, my appointment was at 3:45p we walked out a little before 6, without ever seeing the Dr. and being "missed" by the front desk staff to have my chart pulled at sign in and put in the rotation. We were told multiple times that the Dr. would be right with us and that I was next, again nearly 3 hours later I was still waiting. I'm so unhappy with this office that I have gone back to my primary to get a new referral. My husband arrived in full uniform as we are an active duty military family, and he came from work and were treated as though we didn't matter, we were lied to and forgotten. This is the worst run medical office I have ever been too! I would not recommend anyone to go to the Habana office!!!

I could have done a better job at fixing myself by visiting a street corner pharmacist, and still paid less, be seen quicker and felt better about myself than having experienced this place. Thanks! Negatives: Wait times-clear your entire day regardless of appt time Service-their commercials about treating you like family are funny, and false Doctors-i guess. The end. Now where's my money... Btw, bring extra pens, you'll be filling out paperwork for a while because it seems there is an endless supply and the ipad they use isn't compatible with their forms, no really.

the Drs are good. but it has been taken over by a corporation and it seems like you are a number more than a patient. it's about the money now and not the well being of the patient.

Great experience start to finish. I was presented many more options for addressing my pain than I even knew existed. Very personalized service with explanations every step of the way.

Thanks for your Feedback! If you haven't done so already, we would love for others to see what you have to say about us. Your feedback is available to copy and paste below. Post a review on: Google You left the feedback: I find the staff very nice and professional and I adore Dr. Leal! He has a great bedside matter. He always spends lots of time with me when it is needed and makes me feel like he is going to try to do what ever he can to make my pain better and my life more livable. The whole office is just wonderful. I have had to wait on occasion but it is only because he was giving someone else the time and attention they needed. He has given me that same time and attention when I needed it so I do not complain. People should keep that in mind when he is so gracious with his time with them. 5 Stars for Dr. Leal and his staff. HVB

I am willing to try medical marijuana for pain control so I can cut down on what I take and still not live in HELL..I really do not like the way it makes me feel but know the science and research has shown to cure or help in many medical areas...Mine is bone pain...the more humidity the more problems and pain...the dryer the air the less pain and less meds...I am thinking of moving to Arizona or Nevadaa where the air is dry but maybe steroidal injections in the lumbar or maybe it really is coming off my neck again...although the weather has so much to do with how things are...but how do you stop the rain or even know what is on the inside listening to the outside.....

We are doing research on medical marijuana, and is of particular interest by our specialist in Orlando, Dr. Taufiq Ahmed. For now, we are glad we are able to provide you with many other state-of-the-art treatment modalities, John.

Might as well be a pill mill. They try to get you to do DNA testing to Bill your insurance $$$ or you, the pt. I refused. Waste of money. If your insurance refuses you Will have to pay. My chart contained lies, the whole waiting room is high and falling asleep. To boot the Dr was busy so because the assistant saw me now I have to pay because the assistant is not in my insurance network. Receptionists are rude and the billing office never calls back. Bad bad bad, stay away. I don't take pain pills but it seems like that's all they want to push. Dr leal seems good but the whole outfit is a front for nothing but money.

I curse the day I ever decided to step foot in this office. I paid $100 for the first visit and was lied to by staff regarding what was covered by my plan. Before any test or procedure was done I asked if this was covered and was repeated told yes by Dr. Gari and his staff. I requested my prescriptions be sent to my local Walgreens but they decided to instead send prescriptions to an unknown mail order pharmacy. I had to demand them to be transferred to find out that one order was a medication off the market and one for a cream wasn't covered. I requested the office change my medicine from a cream to a tablet for insurance reasons and I was completely ignored by staff. I would call, be put on hold, and hung up on. Dr. Gari never had the time of day to approve my request for a prescription change or maybe the staff never gave a damn to put it in. Due to poor service, I never returned. Well one year goes by and I get a bill for $500.00 for that one office visit and a procedure that was done that day. It turns out I was completely lied to because they apparently battled by insurance company for almost a year to get them to cover the costs of my visit. One visit with Dr. Gari costs $922.00! As if he was the only doctor out there! Never at any point was I told that some things may not be covered or that I owed more money than what I already paid. Florida Pain Relief Group treats people as everything but a patient. Be prepared for weird and fishy business scheming against you. They do not practice medicine rather they are a business of thieves. I curse the day I stepped in that office. Dr. Gari and his staff will lie, cheat, and wring every dollar they possibly can out of you.

Place is a joke, made an appointment at 1115, was told to get there 30 minutes before and have been waiting for 2 hours to see a doctor. I walked out, looks like a pill mill and it's the DMV of clinics. Gross don't waste your time.

Dr. Gari, Dawn, Joy and the entire staff at every location are absolutely wonderful! I am so lucky to have found them. I have recieved care that has been nothing short of amazing. Every doctor in this practice is top notch and actually provide solutions to my pain issuses rather than shoving a bunch of pain pills at me. I love Dr. Gari, Dr. Orbegoza, Dawn, and the professional yet personal care I recieve every step of the way.... from office visits to same day surgical procedures. They are a very well oiled machine, and I love Florida Pain Relief Group... They are family to me!

I receive excellent care, but the wait is really unreasonable.. They need more than one Dr. or PA to see the number of patients they schedule.my insurance pays for my transportation and allows ONE HOUR after that, I'm financially responsible for my ride home= $87... ....

They don't value you your time. I will never use them again. They tell you to show up for a 1:30 appointment at 12:30. Only to not even say a word to you until 1:10. Time is money and they clearly value their time over their patients.

Disorganized services. No respect for patients. Long, unnecessary wait-on-the-line periods, EXPENSIVE beyond any reason (3-digit co-pay charge with a respectable well-known insurance coverage.) Visited him once. Had to fill out initial paperwork THREE TIMES due to disorganization in the office. He requested an expensive ($9,800) lab work that was not needed (a second opinion confirmed this,) and proposed an operation that was also not needed (the second opinion confirmed this too!) I left the office very dissatisfied, and determined to seek (the) second opinion. At the second doctor’s, my ailment was explained to me efficiently, and I was cured more effectively. No operation or expensive lab test was required. In addition, and while I was seeking a second opinion, Dr. Gari's office never called me back to be told about the lab results (which to this day I don't know if they received,) and was never contacted for a follow-up regarding the proposed operation. But by that time, of course, I had learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson.

Pack a snack and a book if you intend to make an appointment at the Pain relief group. Average wait time for office visits is 2 hours and if you are unlucky enough to be at the surgery center for a procedure it will be a wait time of 3 + hours all while sitting in a hospital gown with an IV in your arm. Yes the doctors are experienced, competent and good bed side manner but the clinic is unorganized and has lack of communication within its own staff to ensure a positive experience for its patients. I suggest you try somewhere else.

Not sure what happened with the previous reviewer, but I've been around the block with my injuries as long as I've had them (from football to an almost cartoon-ish incident where an air conditioner landed on me); all of my referrals were in my network, and even though some of the deductibles were massive (my review of United Health would not be.. positive), there weren't any surprises. As for Dr. Gari (and don't leave out Joy), I'm happy to give him a perfect rating. I've never had any issue reaching him or his staff, scheduling an appointment, rescheduling at the last minute due to work concerns, long wait times or unprofessional staff. I walk into that office and everybody's who's met me once greets me by name, I grab whatever flavor of coffee I want and wait no longer than 10 minutes. I can schedule my appointments with Dr. Gari on my lunch break because I know I'll be back on time. Finally, as a doctor, it's refreshing to find someone who's focused on eliminating the root cause rather than simply catering to people looking for medication. Sure, I've had three epidurals, a strange procedure where they shoved lidocaine into my nose, and now I'm on to physical therapy, but he's trying to fix me without surgery: exactly what I had asked. He listens to you (even if you're lamenting your favorite sports team) and treats you as a person, not a number. He isn't in it for the money, he and his staff actually care about their patients and it shows. And, god forbid, if I do end up needing the "big surgery," I'm glad Dr. Gari will be the one holding the knife.
