Biography

As Chief of Anesthesia, Collin Pick’s position here at PPOA encompasses hiring, scheduling, collaborating, and coaching all anesthesia providers. His methodology to greatly fulfilling his duties is to work closely with anesthesia staff, ASC administrators, department directors, and physicians. Doing so ensures that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained from a clinical, safety, and financial aspect. Pick’s goals as Chief of Anesthesia are to heartily develop, implement, and maintain enhanced and safe anesthesia procedures and practices for our patients. He solidifies his interests by stating: “I was lucky to get introduced into the career path of being a CRNA at an early age from my high school counselor and basketball coach. I love helping patients through surgery, staff members through a day, surgeons through a difficult case, and organizations through development changes. As Confucius stated ‘Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.’”

Pick has been practicing anesthesia for some 25 years. He returned to PPOA in December 2022 as Chief of Anesthesia. He was formerly PPOA’s Chief CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist) in 2018. Aside from his positions filled here at PPOA, other previous leadership roles include Vice President of Clinical Operations, Vice President of Medical Business Development, Cardiothoracic CRNA, ASC administration, and tasked as principal investigator. Additionally, he has filled the weighty position of working in a hospital’s trauma department.

Native to Iowa, Pick completed his Bachelors of Science in Nursing at The University of Iowa, in Iowa City, Iowa. Further, he attained his Masters of Science in Nursing/CRNA Anesthesia at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. There, he graduated with honors in 2000 from the #1 ranked CRNA program by U.S. World News & Report. Pick is certified by Medical Group Management Association as well.

Pick is a board member of NASS (North American Spine Society) and JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). He mentors children and teens with Type 1 Diabetes.

Aside from his career, Pick is married to his wife whom is his best friend and mentor. He also has a wonderful and creative son. In addition, he has two furry friends. As for sports, he is fond of Iowa Hawkeye college football and basketball, and golf. Lastly, other interest of his include traveling and home improvement projects.
