Biography
Dr. Amer Ansari is an interventional spine and pain management physician at our Kissimmee, Florida location. He is double board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as pain medicine. As his specialty is pain management, he skillfully performs interventional pain procedures.
Although born in Paterson, New Jersey and raised in Islamabad, Pakistan, upon his return to the states, Dr. Ansari attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York for his undergrad degree. He then studied at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine where he received his Doctorate in Medicine. He attained an internship in traditional osteopathic medicine at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. Further, he completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York University Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine and went on to complete a fellowship in interventional pain management at Deuk Spine Institute in Viera, Florida.
Dr. Ansari’s inspiration to practice medicine is credited to his family. He states: “Growing up my family was involved in healthcare from physicians, pharmacists, to hospital administration. My father helped to set up a large multinational hospital and often I would go visit the hospital when I was young and see all the people in need. That led me to the path of medicine in an effort to help others and hopefully getting them feeling better for themselves and for their families.”
Dr. Ansari took a keen interest in interventional spine and pain management and decided to focus on this field to help patients alleviate chronic pain. He enthusiastically aims to provide excellent treatment which is of the essence for the appropriate management of these painful conditions. His primary goal is to help each individual regain the highest level of function possible using a patient-centered approach. He relays: “Hearing patients state they’re able to work again, sleep better, spend and enjoy time with their family along with an overall better sense of wellbeing without having to be in constant pain – this improvement in people’s quality of life makes going in to work a pleasure.” Some treatments he meticulously administers are epidural injections, facet joint injections, radiofrequency ablations, spinal cord stimulator trials as well as electromyography (EMGs) and nerve conduction studies (NCS).
Through his years of experience in treating patients, Dr. Amer Ansari saw some elements missing in overall patient care. This led him to develop his own unique approach to practicing medicine which focused on keeping the patient experience at its core. His wife and he opened their own practice in 2019 in Kissimmee, Florida. His patient-first approach stood out to his patients, his referring partners, and the community as a whole. Dr. Ansari has led his team to provide 5-star level service in pain management to the Central Florida area.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Ansari has worked in leadership positions throughout his medical career. He also actively fills a seat as a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, (FAPMR) Fellow of American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Association of Academic Physiatrists, and Florida Osteopathic Medical Association.
Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Ansari loves spending time with his family, traveling and experiencing new cultures and foods. He also enjoys basketball, soccer, and swimming.
