Biography
Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Michelle Borrego brings more than two decades of clinical and operational leadership to her role as Vice President of ASC Operations at Physician Partners of America (PPOA). Since joining PPOA in 2019, she has advanced through several key leadership positions—including ASC Administrator and Regional Director of ASC Operations—before stepping into her current executive role.
Michelle’s career reflects more than 23 years of critical care nursing experience and 16 years as an ASC Administrator, during which she led multiple new ASC developments and guided high-performing teams across Texas and California. She also previously served as a Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington and an Associate Degree in Business Marketing. She is a Certified Administrator of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (CASC) and is also Certified in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC). Her professional affiliations include the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA), Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society (TASCS), American Organization of Nursing Leadership (AONL), Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the National Kidney Foundation. She is also a dedicated volunteer and crew member for the Susan G. Komen organization.
In her leadership at PPOA, Michelle thrives on strategic planning, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. She is passionate about empowering teams, communicating a shared vision, and fostering collaboration across the organization to elevate the patient experience and support PPOA’s mission. Her leadership philosophy centers on inspiring others to achieve their goals while working together as one unified team.
Outside of work, Michelle enjoys a full and joyful family life with her husband of 37 years, their three daughters, six grandsons, and a treasured Border Doodle named Poppy. She loves cooking, reading, cycling, and cheering on her grandsons at baseball games. A devoted football fan, she follows the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Michelle also leads a ministry at her church and remains committed to serving others through volunteerism and community engagement.
