Biography

He was named a board member of the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine for the 2017-2019 term.

Born to Puerto Rican parents in the state of Georgia, Dr. Rivera learned the importance of a quality education and career, which then led to him attending the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.

His desire to relieve patients of chronic pain started with his training at Albany Medical Center, where he completed a residency in anesthesiology & pain management. He demonstrated leadership skills early on at Albany, where he was placed in charge of the pain management rotations for the anesthesiology residents and CRNA students. This would be foreshadowing of his prestigious career and position that would be held later on.

Moved by a desire to help people, Dr. Rivera’s love of being a doctor is evident in the relief that countless patients have experienced at his hands.

His way of spreading his gift to the community is shown in his passion for teaching. He has traveled miles from one end of the earth to the next, spending endless hours teaching fellows & residents. He has also been a thought leader in the technology sector of the healthcare industry, by serving as a consultant for medical device-manufacturing companies.

In his primary role, though, Dr. Rivera is the Chief of Medical Education for Physician Partners of America, which is the parent company that owns and operates pain management practices in Texas and Florida. The company owns and operates several ambulatory surgery centers, pharmacies, and laboratories.

In his free time, Dr. Rivera is a pilot, and also loves to stay active with activities including golfing and scuba diving.
