Physician Partners of America is proud to announce it has added four Laser Spine Institute providers: three minimally invasive laser spine surgeons and a consulting physician.
Surgeons Stefan Prada, M.D.; Keith Girton, M.D.; and Brett Menmuir, M.D., have joined former Laser Spine Institute surgeon James St. Louis, D.O., in performing minimally invasive laser-assisted procedures to treat chronic pain. Dr. St. Louis, the surgical founder of LSI, has been director of PPOA’s Minimally Invasive Spine Group since January 2018.
Another former Laser Spine Institute provider, Jennifer Bowser, DC, offers consultations to patients in the same capacity she occupied at LSI. She recently led her first laser spine seminar for PPOA in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will hold another May 18 in Sun City Center.
“We are pleased to partner with these incredible LSI providers to allow them the ability to continue extending their level of expertise and incredible outcomes to our Physician Partners of America patients as well as new patients seeking help,” says PPOA Chief Operating Officer Josh Helms. “We are proud to be a leader in providing solutions to the opioid crisis and improving patient’s lives.”
Laser Spine Institute, a national spine care company, abruptly closed its doors on March 1 amidst rumored financial troubles. More than 500 employees found themselves out of work. Patients were left stranded, including those who had scheduled procedures.
PPOA reached out immediately to displaced providers and staff and held a career fair three days after the announcement. It has since hired a number of staff for different departments. It also continues to reach out to former Laser Spine Institute patients.
The hiring of the additional doctors brings to six the number of providers in PPOA’s laser spine group. Phillip Kravetz, M.D., performs these specialized procedures in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas.
Dr. St. Louis performs procedures primarily in the Tampa Bay, Florida region. Dr. Prada primarily performs procedures in Central and South Florida, while Dr. Menmuir works primarily in South Florida.
Dr. Keith Girton will handle both spine and interventional pain management patients along Florida’s east coast. Dr. Bowser handles consultations where needed.
