Biography
Dr. Ameer Ali is a remarkably skilled interventional pain physician. His specialty is minimally invasive treatments for painful spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. He is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He also received specialized fellowship training in Interventional Spine Care.
Dr. Ali grew up in New Jersey which is where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Cell Biology & Neuroscience with magna cum laude from Rutgers University. He acquired his medical degree from Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey. Further, he obtained his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Good Samaritan Hospital Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, New York.
Dr. Ali’s prestigious fellowship spurred on many great accomplishments. To begin with, he completed his North American Spine Society Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal fellowship at Virginia iSpine Physicians in Richmond, Virginia. He was privileged to receive this fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Michael DePalma, a nationally recognized spine care leader. Then, during his fellowship, he co-authored a book chapter Complications of Basivertebral Nerve Ablation. Furthermore, due to his proficiency, he was the principal investigator of a large multi-center randomized controlled trial. His responsibility included evaluating intradiscal therapeutics for the treatment of lumbar radiculopathy. Additionally, he was diligently involved in several other clinical research trials, which encompassed investigating the newest available treatments for painful spinal conditions. Dr. Ali conveys his enthusiasm by stating: “My true passion lies within the management of spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. I strongly believe that a multidisciplinary approach is essential for the appropriate management of these painful conditions. Consequently, the most gratifying outcome is correctly identifying and treating the pain generator. In turn, this will result in a significant improvement in overall pain, and thus quality of life; helping the patient return to doing the activities they enjoy with less pain.”
Dr. Ali’s focus is to provide optimum treatment by utilizing a multi-modal comprehensive treatment plan unique to each patient. As already noted, his aim is to help reduce pain and improve overall function. Dr. Ali further relays: “Instead of merely adjusting medications, the core of my treatment strategy is to take a holistic approach. This involves listening to what my patients tell me, talking to them about their social life, stressors, and work-life balance. It is my joy to talk to my patients; encouraging them on the road to recovery, and helping them gain independence after a medically life altering event.” Therefore, he takes special interests in specific methodologies, which includes interspinous spacer implantation, radiofrequency ablation, neuromodulation, kyphoplasty for vertebral compression fractures, and intradiscal biologics for painful disc degeneration. Delivering the best patient care is also credited to his use of the latest evidence-based guidelines in his treatment plans.
Dr. Ali is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Spine Intervention Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, North American Spine Society, Texas Pain Society, and the Texas Medical Association.
